East Bay Area Community Benefit Program
 

Kaiser Permanente's East Bay Area Community Benefit and Community Relations grant programs are administered through the East Bay Area Public Affairs Department on behalf of the Richmond and Oakland Medical Centers.

The East Bay Area Community Benefit Program provides funding to community based nonprofit organizations through responsive grants and sponsorships for community events to local nonprofit health and human service organizations with an emphasis on underserved populations.

The East Bay Area considers funding for grant applicants serving the following areas:

  • Oakland Medical Center
    Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, South and West Berkeley, and Oakland

  • Richmond Medical Center
    El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond, and San Pablo

Applying for a Community Benefit Grant
 

Our Community Benefit Program seeks opportunities to assist organizations that address the following:

  • Prevention & early intervention for mental illness and substance abuse
  • Prevention of violence
  • Prevention of sexually transmitted infections and improvements in sexual health

The identified priorities were selected to address the health needs of community members residing in areas served by each of our East Bay Area Medical Centers.

Applying for an Event Sponsorship
 

Opportunities exist for organizations to apply for financial sponsorship of community based events and activities, such as health fairs, dinners, health education forums, conferences/symposiums.

Our Community Relations Event Sponsorship program seeks opportunities to assist organizations that address the following:

  • Prevention & early intervention for mental illness and substance abuse
  • Prevention of violence
  • Prevention of sexually transmitted infections and improvements in sexual health
  • Childhood asthma
  • Prevention of obesity and overweight and resulting chronic conditions

Priority will be given to organizations that directly address the above health issues. Applications for other health and/social service needs will be considered on a case by case basis.

Applications for Community Relations Event Sponsorship will be accepted on an ongoing basis through October 31, 2008.

All requests for event sponsorship must be submitted in writing at least one month prior to the event.

Applying for Volunteer Support, Donations or Speakers
 

Organizations may also apply for volunteer support, donations, and request the presence of speakers on selected health topics. Requests for volunteers, speakers, or in-kind donations do not require an application, and will be accepted on an ongoing basis through October 31, 2008.

Requests for volunteers, speakers, and in-kind donations (e.g. equipment, supplies, furniture, etc.), must be submitted on the organization’s letterhead (not to exceed 2-pages) with a copy of your organization’s/fiscal sponsor’s letterhead, and a copy of current IRS determination letter indicating 501 c (3) tax-exempt status.  Requests must be submitted at least one month in advance. Depending on the request, your letter should include the following information:

  • Description of the organization, its mission and values, area of focus, services provided and target population
  • Description of the request, including dates, duration of the activity, and location, or
  • Description of the donation being requested, and a brief explanation on how the equipment, supplies, and/or furniture will be used
